Community Built

Possibility Playground will be built by volunteers from the community using donated materials and tools in an old-fashioned barn-raising September 16-21, 2008.

In the space of six days, a small army of untrained but enthusiastic volunteers will transform the empty patch on Port Washington's bluff in Upper Lake Park into something magnificent: our universally accessible, community-designed and volunteer-built playground. Construction consultants from the playground's designer, Leathers & Associates, along with volunteer construction captains from the community, will oversee quality and efficiently lead hundreds of volunteers. Volunteers of all ages and skill levels will work side by side, and will come and go as their schedules permit, working anywhere from a few hours to all five days. Our food committee will provide food and our childcare committee will care for children at the Port Washington Yacht Club to allow parents to participate.

Food Donations
We will be feeding 1,500-2,000 volunteers during the 6-day build, including lunch and dinner. With this many mouths to feed, we need help from you, your Mom, your Grandma, and even your neighbor who aren't able to participate in the build but are able to help supply some food items.

The following is a list of suggested food items we still need, although, we will not turn anything down that you might want to donate. If you want to make enough for 20 people or 100 people, we will take it!

- 5 Large Bowls of Coleslaw
- 5 Large Bowls of Potato Salad
- 30 Large Bowls of Noodle and Pasta Salads (any kind)
- 3,000 Cookies (any kind)
- 30 Pans of Bars (any kind)
- 10 Large Vegetable Trays (assorted veggies)
- 10 Large Fruit Platters (assorted fruit)
- Other Side Dishes of Choice

Bowl = size you would take to a pot luck party

Please email Possibility Playground Food Coordinator Carol Lemke at cmarielemke@hotmail.com or call 414.331.7105 to reserve what you would like to donate and on what day.
